Movement Mortgage Grants $10,000 Each to HomeAid Phoenix and House of Refuge

Phoenix, AZ, January 2, 2024 – Movement Mortgage, a leader in the mortgage industry committed to driving positive changes in communities, with funding from the KM Foundation, owner of the company’s preferred AMC, announced that HomeAid Phoenix and House of Refuge were each awarded their $10,000 “GraceWorks” grant. Home Aid Phoenix was nominated by West Division Builder Director, Senior Loan Originator, Christine Madrid (NMLS 177035) and House of Refuge was nominated by Loan Officer, Rachel Guerrero (NMLS 899870) and Heidy Torres, Underwriting Team Lead. These two non-profit organizations were among thirty-five nationwide winners selected by Movement Mortgage and Karis employees at year end. In 2023, $1.4 million in KM Foundation grants were awarded through nominations by Movement Mortgage teammates. Since the program began, over $6 million has been granted.

HomeAid’s mission is to help people experiencing or at risk of homelessness build new lives through construction, community engagement, and education. Of this non-profit organization, Christine Madrid shared, “Empowering HomeAid isn't just a grant—it's a lifeline. It's about constructing more than houses; it's building hope, fostering community, and providing the tools for individuals to rewrite their stories from homelessness to new found stability."

When asked why House of Refuge was nominated, Rachel Guerrero said, "I believe in what the House of Refuge does to serve individuals who are working to put themselves into better situations and provide stable housing for their families. Our local community gives so much to the organization, and I know being able to provide such a large monetary grant will have tremendous impact on so many families throughout the year.” The House of Refuge is a transitional housing and supportive service for families experiencing homelessness or fleeing domestic violence, having at least one minor child living with them.
