HousingWire names Movement's Kisha Weir a Woman of Influence
Movement Mortgage, a national top 10 retail mortgage lender, is proud to announce Divisional Sales Leader Kisha Weir is a 2021 HousingWire Women of Influence honoree. Weir is part of a tremendous field of women who have provided significant, positive contributions to the housing economy.
Before joining Movement in 2019, Weir spent just under a decade at Eagle Home Mortgage, concentrating on the Pacific Northwest. She arrived at Movement as part of the company's acquisition of Eagle and has since been a driving force in helping grow the Pacific Northwest to one of Movement's largest and most prosperous regions. Prior to Eagle, Weir owned and operated a private home financing business, Mortgage By Design.
Promoted to Movement's Divisional Sales Leader for the Western United States in 2021, Weir is currently responsible for leading Movement's rapid expansion in Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Utah.
In her role, Weir (NMLS 325401) continuously drives change within the Movement organization. Her desire to invest in people is the foundation of her commitment to her growing team, empowering them to push themselves to achieve their personal and professional goals.
“I have the honor of training, mentoring, and coaching our team daily, and they're growing in leaps and bounds,” she said recently.
What excites Weir most is recruiting loan officers who are already doing well and providing them with the tools and motivation needed to double and triple their business — all while still supporting a work-life balance that's crucial to Movement's culture.
“There are loan officers out there who are just looking for support. They're looking for somebody to say, 'What do you want to do with your business? How high do you want to go,” enthuses Weir. “Okay, let's put it in place, and let's help you get there.”
When considering Women of Influence in the home financing industry, Weir thinks back on her mother. “My mom was in the industry, starting as a loan originator, and she would bring me into the office in my car seat, put me under her desk, and do loans,” says Weir. “I didn't really have a choice. I grew up with that being the example.”
Today, Weir is the first female Divisional Director at Movement and one of very few senior sales executives in the historically male-dominated mortgage industry. “Movement has some powerful women in senior leadership, but in the seat that I am sitting in, there's only one,” notes Weir, who goes on to say that she's always eager to help people succeed in this or any industry.
“I'm super passionate about women, but I'm passionate about everyone growing. If you want to grow, I'm going to take an interest in that — I'm going to do everything I can,” she admits. “I tell my daughter every day that you can do whatever you want to do; you can be whatever you want to be.”
Weir joins several other Movement leaders who have been honored with the Women of Influence award. Chief Financial Officer Laura Bowles was part of HousingWire's list in 2017, followed by Chief Commercial Officer Michelle Donnelly in 2018, and Senior Vice President for Capital Markets Caroline Payne in 2019.
