Of this non-profit organization, Christine Madrid shared, “Empowering HomeAid isn't just a grant—it's a lifeline. It's about constructing more than houses; it's building hope, fostering community, and providing the tools for individuals to rewrite their stories from homelessness to new found stability."
When asked why House of Refuge was nominated, Rachel Guerrero said, "I believe in what the House of Refuge does to serve individuals who are working to put themselves into better situations and provide stable housing for their families. Our local community gives so much to the organization, and I know being able to provide such a large monetary grant will have tremendous impact on so many families throughout the year.” The House of Refuge is a transitional housing and supportive service for families experiencing homelessness or fleeing domestic violence, having at least one minor child living with them.
