"I would say the experience was good, but not great. We didn't require communication from so many people at Bison Ventures - one single point of contact would have been more helpful. Or perhaps the underwriter person (Randi) and our mortgage/lender contact (Bridget) only. There was considerable confusion with the title company as well as to who was handling what and we had to follow up to get clarification. Bridget was very responsive, as was Randi. We had quite a few questions that probably would have been better answered by phone, not email. We are grateful for their help, truly. We also asked several times about the HOA computation and never got a good answer. We recently found that this WAS incorrect, and were issued a refund by the title company. Though this is not Bison Ventures' error, it would have been great if someone clearly said (and maybe they did and we missed it amid SO many communications) that this is a question for the TITLE company, not Bison. I know, too, that it's standard practice now to immediately resell a mortgage, but it still doesn't feel great. Makes you feel just like a number. The originating charges were OUTRAGEOUS by any standard and it would have helped a lot if someone had prepared us for this and also explained that we had options to get that figure down. Buying a second home was FAR more stressful and costly than we ever knew and that caused us lots of lost sleep and difficulty. I assume this is in part, too, because I am self-employed. I just wish someone had told us how hard this would be. And I have to say that I do resent how long it takes to get a clear answer on whether we truly are FULLY approved. The time lag of course it means we have no other recourse to find someone else in time to close. On the whole, the Bison team did their job and were very kind and communicative as well as informed on the questions we posed. We know we asked a lot of them and do appreciate your patience. My frustration is more with the process itself, which is never fun but this was way more stressful than I'd experienced in buying four houses previously. Thank you for your help!"
